Children's Clothes Then And Now
Family & Parenting,Fashion & Cosmetics
As the father of two young children and as a husband of a wife who loves to shop for childrens clothes, I often find myself comparing the clothes my kids where to the clothes I used to where when I was their age. Growing up in the late 70’s and early 80’s I often find it somewhat comical when I make these comparisons. Style not withstanding, cost and brand themselves are nothing like they once where.
It really wasn’t until our youngest was born a couple of years ago that I began to find myself thinking of what I used to wear, especially since my wife starting digging up old baby pictures of the both of us. I generally find the comparisons humorous especially when dealing with baby clothes but even the normal everyday playwear of children in my day would be considered tacky by the standards of twenty years ago.
When my wife starting bringing home baby clothes for our youngest, I immediately thought of the horrible 70’s onsies my parents put me in. While looking at my own baby pictures I noticed that my parents put me in things that where bright and multi-colored. The onsies in particular where fashioned after the jersey’s that everyone seemed to be wearing in those days. The chest was one color, while the sleeves where another color. To be perfectly honest I didn’t find one picture of myself in anything fashionable even by 70’s standards which continue to reverberate in my mind whenever I look at the children’s clothes we bring home.
With our oldest who is a boy I find myself laughing when I think of how his jeans differ from mine. When I was six years old my jeans where bell bottoms, corduroy, and I wore Toughskins exclusively! In those days nothing beat a good pair of jeans with huge patches over the knees. Every cool kid had a few pairs of Toughskins to sport on the playground. These days my son only wears Levis and pitches quite the fit should we suggest he try and where something different.
I think perhaps the biggest difference in childrens clothes then and now is the shorts. Even adult shorts have changed so much that the shorts of yesteryear have gone far beyond the “tacky” barrier. My son and even my youngest enjoy wearing things like Dickies and what not however in the late 70’s I remember wearing disco shorts to school along with some variant of a multi-colored shirt. Why our shorts where so short I’ll never know but perhaps they where short so that us kids could pull up our stripped socks as high as we could!
I’ve always been a fairly fashion conscience person throughout my whole life and while I know that styles come and go with time it really blows my mind to see just how much things have changed when it comes to baby clothes and even childrens clothes. I once laughed at the clothes my father wore when I was as young as my kids and I’m sure they do the same now though I’m one of the jeans and t-shirt dads. I guess fashion is actually just a sense of age and time.

Fun Dog Clothes for Fido
Fun Dog Clothes for Fido
If you are looking to keep your precious pooch cozy and stylish this winter, you're in luck. Dog clothes and trendy pet apparel is all the rage with designers bringing new styles and irresistible fashions to the animal kingdom.
Dressing dogs in cozy sweaters has been a trait of dog lovers for sometime, but the trend swing into full gear as celebrities pamper their four legged friends as well as they dress themselves. From Tinkerbell, Daisy and Bambi to Honey Child and Cleopatra, we've seen Paris, Nicole and Jessica tote their pups in everything from sunglasses and dresses to sweaters and the most adorable shoes.
As a shopaholic, it is easy to understand the draw to dog clothes and pet apparel. If you think baby clothes are cute, nothing is more adorable than little hoodies or dresses for dogs. These designer dog clothes bring creativity, fashion and humor to light leaving everyone who crosses your pets path feeling giddy. Love it or hate it, there could be worse things to spend your money on than threads for Fido, but few things bring a smile to so many people. You can find formal attire, casual clothes, costumes and themed clothing in for dogs of all sizes. Whether you want to show off your spoiled puppies or your looking to protect them from the elements, there are tons of clothes to build your dogs wardrobe. Is your pooch dainty and delicate or rugged and roudy? Princess dresses or hooded sweatshirts, t-shirts and pajamas are available in just about every personality you can imagine. From rock to jock, ballerina to brainiac, you can find the style that best fits you and your pet.
There are lots of fun styles and hilarious designs you can choose from to dress your dog to the nines or share your passions and favorite pastimes with your dog. My favorite are the skull and cross bones tank for my dog. I have one similar for my daughter and the when the two are dressed in the matching tanks, it makes a stroll through the neighborhood or a ride to the grocery store more enjoyable. My daughter loves it and I have to admit, it keeps her entertained, and people we pass smile with amusement. Some people don't understand spending money on something like dog clothes, but my philosophy is if it makes you happy, others smile and doesn't break the bank, why not? If you're looking for unique pet apparel or designer dog clothes, one of my favorite sites has a hilarious inventory. MichiPet.com carries brands with names like Barktoria's Secret, Kate Spayed and Chewy Vuiton making shopping for dog clothes just as fun as playing dress up with my dogs.
So the next time you're frustrated because you couldn't find that cute dress in your size or the purse you want is out of your budget, consider picking up a new outfit for your furry friend and you'll probably spend less and enjoy it more.

Designer Denim Never Felt So Good
Denim has long been an American tradition stemming back to the days of Levis Strauss. But today's denim is diverse and fashion centric as it has ever been. As style staples for any wardrobe, denim, especially designer jeans, have worn their way into the hearts of men and women alike, winning the role of favorite fabric. From designer labels such as Antik Denim, True Religion, Frankie B, Taverniti, Monarchy and Pure Venom you can find the right look from glam to goth, embellished stitching to rhinestone coated.
If you're looking to clad your close ones in this seasons hottest fashions, you're guaranteed a seal of approval with a pair of designer jeans. Depending on the attitude and style of your recipient in mind, you can narrow down your choices to those that best fit their personality. For example, music lovers are very much in tune with the threads of True Religion as this line is musically inspired bringing quality and attention to detail including hand-sanded washes. These are also a favorite among celebrities, just take a look at the company's website for a never ending list of True Religion donned celebutants.
Whatever the flavor or fashion sense, the common thread amongst all high-end denim brands is the refined quality fabrics and the flattering fit the provide us. Many of the today's top brands use Italian or Japanese fabrics, giving them that super soft, sleek and sexy feel. I'm not sure what it is about jeans that shape a woman's body they way they do, but nothing says contour and definition like a quality pair of designer jeans.
Lifting, shaping, contouring, flattening or slenderizing, jeans just seem to be that comfort form that we gravitate towards. Designer jeans range in style, price and celebrity approval as widely as the shapes they are designed to fit. From skinny to flared, trends have a large influence on our lifestyle preferences and choice of denim. Jeans are no longer just the rough and tough pants worn for a hard days work. Paired with a classy blazer, a sexy tank or a soft t-shirt, our jeans truly are the compass of our daily attire.
In the fast paced mode of life, our desire for comfortable fashion demands for the fit, form and physique of designer denim. Skinny jeans work well on narrow frames and petite statures as they can elongate the line from rise to toe. If you're on the curvier side of life, you can go with straight leg jeans giving a slimmer appearance and providing enough room from curve to curve, or you can let loose with a little flare that draws the eye down and out and away from our less attractive assets. In contrast, some women love how they can accentuate their derrieres putting all the focus and form to creating that apple bottom spice. Fit, contour, shape and form, jeans just have that unique ability to look good either dressed up or down, identifying and promoting all shapes, sizes, styles and personalities.
For men, designer denim is just as pleasing on the eye. Nothing is sexier than a pair of Diesel jeans with a white t-shirt. With the crisp, dark washes, straight legs and bun hugging form, guys look just as good in these as anything else. Slick and edgy, giving a sense of refined premium denim, designer jeans are one commodity that is worth the extra expense. They not only connect all ends of our wardrobe and span from season to season, but they truly help shape our bodies as well as our individual character traits.
Whether you're shopping for others or looking to express yourself this holiday season, you're sure to find designer jeans creating an irresistible figure. While you can try on and load up a dressing room, don't neglect the inventory and diversity of brands that can be found online. In addition, you can also benefit from significant savings and reduced costs on designer denim. Check out a favorite site of mine, www.InTrends.com for the latest styles of designer clothing, shoes and accessories for the fashion savvy yet deal conscious shoppers.
